Sexiest woman on earth

You may not have heard her name before, but Marisa Miller is officially the sexiest woman on the planet.

The American supermodel, a feature of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues, is the global winner of FHM Magazine’s Sexiest Women in the World poll - which received more than a million votes.

She stole the global sexiest woman crown from last year’s winner Megan Fox.

Marisa has countless magazine covers under her belt and is a face of Harley-Davidson and lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret.

The 31-year-old, married to music producer Griffin Guess, hails from Santa Cruz in California and has been modelling since she was 16.

Despite her rising profile, and work in magazines such as Vogue, she is yet to reach the household name status of some of her contemporaries.

But her good looks speak for themselves, with Marisa winning the FHM poll, voted for by readers of the magazine from 24 international editions in countries such as the UK, U.S., Australia, China, France, India and South Africa.

The UK poll was topped by singer Cheryl Cole, with Marisa coming in third position.

Colin Kennedy, editor of UK FHM, said: 'Marisa Miller has the kind of sun-kissed sex appeal that wows men all over the world.'

But Marisa, a keen surfer, is unlikely to be too impressed.

She has previously said: 'I get a kick out of it, but it would be stupid to let it go to my head. It’s modelling - I didn’t find the cure for cancer.'

Corrie Star Kate Ford Poses Nude

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has bared all as part of a poster campaign urging the Ministry of Defence to stop using bearskin for The Queen's Guards' caps.

The actress said she was angry about the suffering that bears in Canada endured when they were baited, shot, killed and skinned just to be part of British soldiers' uniforms.

Ford took part in campaign as her character Tracy Barlow returned to Corrie this week after being allowed out from prison for her grandmother's funeral.

And the timing was expecially pertinent as the Grenadier Guards were marched into Buckingham Palace yesterday for an inspection by the Queen and a photoshoot.

In the sexy ad, shot by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta), the star is pictured next to the slogan: 'Bare Skin, Not Bearskin'.

The poster continues: 'Bears suffer and die for The Queen's Guards' caps.

'Support the campaign to end this cruelty. Visit PETA.org.uk.'

The ad is part of Peta's campaign to persuade the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to stop killing bears for the Buckingham Palace Guards' ceremonial headgear.

Kate's campaign was shot by photographer Karl Grant, and it is being released to coincide with Kate's return to the ITV soap.

She said: 'I would never have dreamed of posing nude, but when Peta showed me the footage of the bears being shot and skinned just for the sake of these ornamental Guards' caps, I decided to be brave and show some of my skin in the hope that the MoD will let the bears keep theirs.

'The cowardly hunters even bait the bears with food before ambushing them. When mother bears are killed, their cubs are left to slowly starve to death.

'This breaks my heart. I think it is despicable of the MoD to use taxpayers' money to fund this cruelty overseas when there are synthetic faux furs available.'

Peta US obtained video footage of Canadian bears as they were killed by a method called 'bait and shoot', a practice in which bears are lured to barrels of food and shot at close range.

The animal rights organisation said many bears were shot several times, and those that escaped died slowly from blood loss, gangrene, starvation or dehydration.

Peta said that when mother bears were killed, orphaned cubs were left behind to starve and that typically 70% of orphaned cubs died within one year.

Kate joins a long list of celebrities including Pamela Anderson, Lucy Davis, Morrissey, Julian Clary, Sadie Frost, Mary McCartney, Sir Roger Moore, Twiggy, Jilly Cooper, Hayley Mills and Amanda Holden who have condemned the slaughter of bears for The Queen's Guards' ceremonial caps.

An MoD spokesperson said: 'No bears are killed specifically for bearskin hats for the British Army.

'All bearskins used in the UK are sourced from Canada where bears are culled under the direction of the Canadian government to keep the bear population under control.

'The MoD remains open to testing material that industry might offer us to assess whether a faux fur meets the requirements for a replacement bearskin hat material.

'So far industry has not been able to produce a suitable material to meet the Guards' requirements.'

Peta is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. It aims to educate policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promote an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.

It works through public education, research, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.

Indonesian to Make Film on Obama's Jakarta Childhood

An Indonesian director said Tuesday he plans to make a film about President Barack Obama’s childhood in Jakarta in time for the US head of state’s scheduled visit to Indonesia in June.

Damien Dematra said the film would be based on his book, “Obama Anak Menteng” or “Obama the Menteng Kid”, but would be released internationally with the title “Little Obama”. It would be shot in just two weeks in and around the capital Jakarta, where Obama lived with his mother and Indonesian step-father from 1967 to 1971.

“The film is based on real events. I hope youths in Indonesia and all over the world can be inspired by Obama and not be afraid of their differences,” Dematra told AFP.

The US president was broadly popular in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, after his election victory in 2008.

“Obama is an icon of pluralism and he represents a triumph for minorities,” Dematra said.

Gaga wear a Bra please

Lady Gaga isn’t known for her modesty but we would have at least expected her to wear a bra under this see-through lace bodysuit.

As the new Queen of Pop partied in Stockholm after the first night of her European tour, she bared her bra-less breasts.
Luckily a long blonde wig covered her assets, giving her some dignity, but she still braved the cold night in little more than fishnet stockings and lace embroidery.
The lack of bra came as a surprise after the singer’s latest controversy with lingerie firm Rigby and Peller.
Gaga left the company’s knickers in a twist after a bunch of loaned prototypes for their latest collection were lost in transit.

The Paparazzi singer borrowed seven sets of the handmade Autumn/Winter 2010 collection to wear in a new music video but only three were returned, leaving the company in panic before a catwalk show.
Couriers transporting the sets from New York to London reported the missing underwear as going ‘AWOL’ and the brand said they were disappointed not to be able to display them in their major fashion show.

Lady Gaga’s latest outfit proved that she hasn’t kept any of the bras though, unless she turned them into padded shoulder pads!
The 24-year-old also sported unusual stage make-up on her night out, which looked like blood splattered down her thighs.

Gaga will return to the UK later this month as part of her European tour.

Apple is stealing Nokia idea?

Nokia said that Apple had infringed on patents relating to “enhanced speech and data transmission, using positioning data in applications and innovations in antenna configurations that improve performance and save space, allowing smaller and more compact devices”.

In a press release, Paul Melin, general manager of patent licensing for Nokia, said: “Nokia has been the leading developer of many key technologies in mobile devices. We have taken this step to protect the results of our pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia’s innovation.”

The move is the latest in a series of lawsuits between the two companies. In October last year, Nokia filed a lawsuit against Apple for patent infringement. Two months later, Apple filed a countersuit, accusing Nokia of infringing on some of its patents. Bruce Sewell, Apple’s general counsel, said: “Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours.”

Another round of lawsuits followed, from both sides, and the matter remains unresolved.

The new lawsuit comes as Apple announced plans to release the iPad outside the US for the first time. The iPad will be released in Britain on Friday, May 28 and prices start at £429.
